The Lokoja Football Referees Society today 15th March,2021 held her 2019/2020 season Annual General Meeting with the call on members to be proffessioners in the discharge of their duties. The meeting is meant to x-ray the performance of the executive and the society at large.
Delivering his report, the Chairman of the society, chief C.C Anichukwu stated that irrespective of the COVID-19 pandemic that affected activities of the society, the society has religiously observed her welfare responsibilities to members which according to him is topmost priority to the current executive and has not been compromised.
"The Lokoja Football Referees Society, in the faces of all odds; COVID-19 pandemic, economic meltdown in the state and suspension of all activities related to contact games, we vividly and religiously observed and uphold her welfare responsibilities to members during fitness test at Abuja and Kano, weddings, naming ceremonies, sickness and condolences. The welfare packages to her members was a top notch and priority that has never been compromised".
Anichukwu who thank the council for their efforts in propelling more referees for promotion to premiership, match commissionership, and assessor cadres, equally solicit for continual council's effort to secure match appointment for promoted referees. He call on all members for their cooperation to enable the executive run the affairs of the society smoothly.
In his remark, the Honorable member representing Lokoja 1 in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon, Isah Umar congratulate the executive for organising the AGM and enjoyed younger referees to emulate their older ones.
Umar urged elders in the society to assess young referee's performance to aid them in upholding the statue of the association and to improve in the discharge of their duties.
In his keynote address, the chairman Kogi State Football Association Alhaji Umar Ibrahim said his office will assist in the registration of young referees to boost the numerical strength of the society. The FA chairman show's his disappointment in the dwindling fitness performance of referees at the national level adding that as a result of low fitness performance, Kogi State has no FIFA referee at the moment and that the FA is doing her best to making sure that kogi have an international referee in the nearest future.
The Kogi State Football Referees Council chairman and a Nigeria Professional Football League Assessor, Mr. Ibrahim Adams urge the society to follow the laydown procedure for AGM adding that the NRA statue should be the society's Bible and Quran in the running of it's affairs. He said that the council is making efforts through the FA to making sure that referees get national match appointments as at when due.
He called on well to do individuals who love sporting activities to help in the annual registration so that kogi football referees can be reckoned with numerically for national activities.
