The Novelty Match Between the Newdirection Team of Kogi State which comprises members of the State executives, commissioners and special advisers and the ex-super eagles players of 1994 and 1996 set ended 1:1, the match was played at the confluence stadium Lokoja . The event began with a curtain raiser between Kogi United FC and Confluence Queen FC of Lokoja. The Novelty Match saw the ex-super eagles dominating the game at the first half but all efforts made was fruitless as none could not be converted, the first half ended goalless.  However, two minutes into the second half of the game, a player of the Newdirection Team was brought down in the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty in favour of the Newdirection Team. In the early hours of this morning, an oil tanker has exploded on the popular Otedola Bridge in Lagos. The incident occurred at about 3:00 AM today. According to an eyewitness, the cause of the incident was when a trailer loaded with fabrics crashed into an oil tanker carrying about 33,000 litres of PMS (petrol) which was in motion. However, no casualty was recorded in the inferno. Although a combined efforts of the men of the Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) were seen putting efforts together in other to quench the fire and to control traffic in the area. It would be recalled that on the 27th of June ,2018, a major explosion occoured on this same bridge which claimed 12 lives and no less than 50 vehicles.
