NFRA Holds National Promotion Examination for Referees

NFRA Holds National Promotion Examination for Referees

The Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA) on Saturday, August 24, 2025, conducted its National Promotion Examination across several centres nationwide.

The annual examination, which serves as a prerequisite for elevation to higher officiating grades, featured two sections — a technical paper testing candidates’ knowledge of the Laws of the Game and a general paper assessing their awareness of football-related current affairs.

Speaking after the exercise, NFRA National Secretary, Mr. Musa Abdullahi, described the examination as a vital step in maintaining integrity and professionalism within Nigerian refereeing.

“The promotion examination is not just a formality; it is a measure of competence. Only referees who prove their knowledge and commitment will advance, and that is how we safeguard the quality of officiating in our football,” Abdullahi said.

Observers from Nigeria Whistlers monitored proceedings and reported that the atmosphere at different centres reflected both the seriousness and determination of candidates hoping to rise through the ranks
