Another Tanker Explosion Rocks Otedola Bridge, Lagos.

In the early hours of this morning, an oil tanker has exploded on the popular Otedola Bridge in Lagos. The incident occurred at about 3:00 AM today. According to an eyewitness, the cause of the incident was when a trailer loaded with fabrics crashed into an oil tanker carrying about 33,000 litres of PMS (petrol) which was in motion. However, no casualty was recorded in the inferno. Although a combined efforts of the men of the Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) were seen putting efforts together in other to quench the fire and to control traffic in the area. It would be recalled that on the 27th of June ,2018, a major explosion occoured on this same bridge which claimed 12 lives and no less than 50 vehicles.

INEC Set February 18, 2023 for Presidential Election

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on Thursday 15th October 2020, he said Nigeria is 855 days away from the 2023 general elections. This was made public at the inauguration of the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review, He urged the National Assembly to work fast on the exercise, ahead of the polls. Yakubu said the 2023 presidential election is scheduled to hold on February 18, 2023.

FG Lifts Ban on Contact Sports

The Federal Government through it's Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 has lifted the ban on Contact Sports especially football with tregient conditions. This was made public via a media briefing by the Task Force on Thursday 15th of October, 2020 . The lifting of the ban came amidst growing calls by sportmen and women and other sports enthusiast for the ban to be lifted on contact sports. The Minister for Youth  and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, enjoined all stakeholders to apply full compliance with all Covid -19 protocols before any organization of any sport events. It will be recalled that the federal government through the presidential task force had earlier announced partial opening of sports, especially the non contact sports. The lifting of the ban will bring succour to millions of Nigerians who depends on football for their livelihood since March that the ban was announced by the presidential task force on Covid-19.

Governor Yahaya Bello flag-off the distribution of 100 Tractors and Educational Materials to 21 Local Government in the State.

The Inspector General of Police Dissolved SARS.

The Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu has Dissolved a subunit of the force, the Special Anti-Robbery Squard (SARS) across the 36 state police commands and the FCT. The dissolution of the subunit was made public on Sunday in the wake of several civil protests demanding for the scrapping of the unit for allegations of brutality and fundamental human rights violation across the country. Reporter :  Friday Abu- Lokoja.  In the Early hours of today, an alleged motorcycle snatcher was beaten into coma in lokoja at the first 200 Housing Unit along the Ganaja - Ajaokuta road. The motorcycle snatcher was found been surrounded by passer - by with misfeelings.
